On my 95 and 97 2500s, the diff tags are about 5" long, made of aluminum
and
go between two cover bolts. The top 8 digit number is the axle
assy part
number. Under that number is the ratio on the left, and then
the "bill of
materials" number that is used as an identifier to order parts from
Dana, etc.
