1998 Ram SS/T bought
new from the showroom floor of Advantage Dodge, in Murfreesboro, TN, on
April 11,1998. It has every option you could get on an SS/T, including
leather seats, 3.55 rear axle ratio, heated power mirrors, overhead compass/thermometer,
dealer installed rear bumper, and the AM/FM/CD/Cassette. The only modifications
are pentastar decals on the back window, tinted windows, trailer brakes/lights,
and a receiver hitch. No other modifications are planned since I want
to keep it fairly stock.
I needed (wanted)
a truck and my 1991 Daytona Shelby's turbo was going out. So, on a Friday
evening, I drove down to the local Dodge dealer to "look" at the trucks
and maybe see about ordering an SS/T or a Dakota R/T. I wasn't going to
stop, but I just happened to see the SS/T specific wheels through the
window as I was driving by. I parked my car and went in to look. I discussed
the trade with the salesman and told him I'd be back in the morning. I
didn't hardly sleep at all that night. The next morning, I owned my first
brand new vehicle!
The truck is a blast
to drive! People are always staring at it. Not many people realize that
the SS/T was a factory option. When I pull in at the gas station, people
are always asking me where I purchased my wheels and who put on my stripes.
All my friends and
relatives make fun of me because I have never hauled anything in the bed.
I even take my shoes off when I wash the bed and the top of the cab. I
will never sell my SS/T and plan to will this truck to my children
The car, in two of
the pictures, is my ultra rare 1987 Dodge Shelby Charger GLHS. It is #592
of 1000 made.
