Last December I posted several messages about a rear disc brake conversion for Dodge Rams, and I'm finally getting around to getting my Ram converted.
Here's the scoop...

TSM is a company located in Castle Rock Colorado (just south of Denver) that has been building drum to disc conversion kits for many years. They don't currently have a conversion kit for the Dodge Ram and needed a truck so they could design and build the prototype. Last week I let them borrow my 98 2500 Quad cab, and they completed the kit design. The kit will consist of 4 steel brackets to hold the brake calipers (2 each side), disc brake rotors, and brake calipers (you can provide your own caliper if you wish) and mounting hardware.

The brake caliper is from a late model Cadilac and incorporates a manual parking brake. I don't know what the cost will be, but I believe their other kits are around $350 plus the price of 2 calipers. They are designing the kit so that it will be a relatively easy home install and will require no machining.

If you are interested or need more info, give Skip at TSM a call at
303-688-6882.

NOTE: This project has been delayed because TSM is too busy to develop a Ram kit. Eventually, the kit will be available, but there is not much chance of it happening soon. -Dave-
